WARREN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL ARTS INCLUSION PROJECT "TREES!TREES!TREES!" APRIL 26-29

Warren Central High School was awarded an Arts Inclusion Award titled, "TREES!TREES!TREES!". The award paid for the wonderful supplies needed for this project including, Water Mixable Oil paint sets, acrylic paint, gloves, canvas boards, watercolor paper, and Dorlands Cold Wax. I was the artist and I loved teaching and demonstrating the process as well as showing the students my own work! We looked at the art of Wolf Kahn for inspiration of colors and style. Partnering with Alice Orange, art educator was so much fun! She has a colorful, organized art room full of inspiring art work! Her students were highly motivated and seemed to really enjoy learning and creating. Fun fact! Alice was one of my elementary art students at Natcher elementary!

The first step in the process of creating the Cold Wax painting is to create a sketch for your idea paying attention to the composition. Then decide what colors will work well as your undercolor and that is what you will paint your canvas using the acrylic paint. Acrylic paint has plastic pigment and drys very fast so it is perfect for this. Some students chose more than one color and some students chose a light to dark effect.

Day #2 we put on the gloves and mixed the oil paint colors with the Dorlands cold wax and applied! A little messy but so worth it!

Once the wax is applied then you begin the scraping off to create the landscape with trees.

SIDE BY SIDE ART SHOW AT THE KENTUCKY MUSEUM APRIL 16, 2022

The Side by Side show at the Kentucky Museum April 16, 2022 was a happy reunion of art students and collaborating artists! It was so great to see the work displayed; One piece for the student, one piece for the artist and then the collaborative piece in the middle! Thanks to Lynne Ferguson and to Delaire Rowe for organizing such a wonderful inclusive event!

Arts for All Artist collaboration with Jackson! 3/17/2022

It was a bright and sun shiny day when Jackson came to my studio to paint with me! We looked around at all of the paintings and ideas in my studio and then Jackson chose to paint a Llama! He had a hard day at school and he said it was relaxing to be painting with me. After he painted the Llama he said, "He needs a friend" so he painted a sheep and a bee and a bird! He also added lots of brushstrokes and dots in the background. Then he announced, "I'm Done and I want to go outside!" So we went outside and posed with the mural and played basketball, fed the fish in my pond, went as high as the sky in the big swing and explored! His hard day became one that was filled with creativity and precious outdoor time. Best Day Ever!!

Oh! Jackson also got to meet my dog and studio mascot....Snowball.

Artist Collaboration with Jordan!

Jordan and I collaborated on a beautiful painting of a pig! Jordan enjoyed looking around my studio and choosing an idea for a painting. We decided that polka dots would be great for the background. After we finished Jordan posed by the mural. So Much Fun!
