DAY 3 OF THE SIDE BY SIDE PROGRAM AT THE KENTUCKY MUSEUM 2/26/2022 GELLI PRINTING!

Saturday 2/26/2022 was a great day of printmaking! The students learned vocabulary like; brayer, monoprint, layering, acrylic paint, gelli plates, and stencils. I did a short presentation on the process of printing using gelli plates and then the students made their own. It was such a fun and creative day!
This is me with my entry for the US Bank Art Show at the Kentucky Museum.

DAY 2 OF THE SIDE BY SIDE PROGRAM AT THE KENTUCKY MUSEUM! 2/19/2022 COLLAGE ON A VINYL RECORD

Day #2 at the Kentucky Museum included a lesson on Collage. We used vinyl records that had been primed on one side with white acrylic and tissue paper in warm and cool colors. The students painted on the modge podge layer onto the primed side and then applied the tissue paper in any design they wanted. Students also went to a station and chose 6 objects to add on top of their completed tissue paper collage. Creativity was in abundance as they worked and talked about how much they loved art and this process! Some students who were not in attendance at the first session were able to work on last weeks watercolor project. The middle/High school group brought sketchbooks to share and enjoyed some community time creating at the end of the class. What great kids!

Day 1 of the Side by Side program at the Kentucky Museum! 2/12 Watercolor techniques!

What a JOY to teach these watercolor classes on Saturday Feb. 12, 2022! The students arrived ready to learn and excited to create! They always have some of their own ideas about projects so this was a perfect one for them. Step 1 apply 3 layers of tape to create 8 open spaces. Step 2 sketch and then watercolor a flower, leaf or cactus in one of the spaces.Use a contrasting color for a background for that space. Step 3 create a very watery watercolor space using one or 2 colors then sprinkle salt on! Step 4 work on your own to finish the spaces.... bug/reptile, cartoon, stripes/pattern, bubbles/circles, and 2 free spaces....that's right! Your choice!
