"SPARKLES AT SHACKLETTE! CHIHULY GLASS CHANDELIERS AND SEA FORMS" SHACKLETTE ELEMENTARY JCPS October 16-18, 2023

"Sparkles at Shacklette!" was such a fun project as you can tell by the smiles! We used plastic water bottles, plastic plates, clear plastic cups and overhead projector sheets. The students colored them with permenant markers and then cut them in a spiral. When combined all together they actually do take the shape of a Chihuly chandelier. We were able to create 2 chandeliers and several other beautiful hanging examples of chihuly inspired exhibits. The students and faculty were so excited and impressed to see the exhibits created by students!Students and teachers enjoyed this arts for all project and learned so much about Dale Chihuly and his glass installations.

"SMILES AND GELLI PRINTS!" BARREN COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL September 19-21, 2023

Our project at Barren County Middle School began with us learning the process of creating gelli prints. We used the gelli prints to cut up and apply as an interesting element in the background. The second class we learned what a self-portrait and a portrait is and we looked at the work of 2 artists; Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. The students loved seeing the images and talking about the paintings and the varying backgrounds. We did a small sketch diagram of the face and where all the features are placed. Then they started their very own self portrait by drawing an oval with neck and shoulders and mixing a skin color that is like their own skin color. We used acrylic paint to paint in the skin and shirt and then add the background color. In the next session we continued our work and then added features, shadows and background of cut up gelli prints applied with mod podge!Enjoy these photos of the process! I love the look of pride in their eyes as they look at their self-portrait!!

NAEA NATIONAL CONVENTION 2023 SAN ANTONIO!

I was honored to be accepted to lead 2 workshops at NAEA and to co-present a 3rd workshop! I also had a great time exploring San Antonio and hanging out with my art teacher friends and my sister!
"THE MARVELOUS WORLD OF MARBLING!" I co-presented with my friend Shelly Clark. Shelly did a great job of leading this workshop! We set up 4 different stations with 4 different marbling processes. After introducing the 4 processes we invited the participants to rotate between the 4 stations and try out all of the processes.
"IMPRESSIONISM IN THE ROUND!" This workshop is about the project that Katrina Bray and I did together in 2021 at her Middle School. Each participant received a vinyl record and instructions to begin an impressionist painting using acrylic paint. The participants were shown a google slide presentation about the project including inclusion that was implemented during the project.
